Rope cutter for Volvo 270

There appears to be very little available, I found this which replaces the thrust ring, has anyone got any experience of them? do they work?

That is the standard bit of metal behind any propeller on all 270/280 outdrives. Its designed to cut fishing line(rarely works) and precious little else.
Will def not cut anything approaching rope. There is nothing on the market in the rope cutting dept for outdrives.
Raise yer leg and get yer knife out..

OK, thanks Fred, that's saved me some searching then
Fortunately, because I destroyed my prop, the rope which was also wrapped around it slid easily off when I removed it (positive thinking...)

Check the prop shaft seal to make sure rope hasnt damaged it.
I did as said above and removed prop after spending half an hour trying to get fishing line out, almost impossible.

Thanks for the heads up, the seal seems ok, luckily. I think the prop strikes stopped the engine before the rope wrapped itself on too tightly.
