Just had a text from the marina that they're removing all the Rolec meters they can get to due to a couple units catching fire and no response from Rolec

(one assumes they'll plug us back in and it's free leccy for a while otherwise things might freeze up )

Anybody heard of any issues elsewhere?

More than a coincence?

I have just returned from a meeting with a south coast marina to negotiate a berth for next summer. They informed me that I must use a metered cable for the lekky. They no longer sell Rolec as the marina man said they are prone to catching fire but recommend, and stock, Metermaid which are a lot more expensive.

I have just bought a brand new Rolec direct from the company for a special price of £70.

Rolec wouldn't be selling off stock cheaply because of the problem - would they?

There are 2 versions, 16amp and 32amp. I wonder if people have been overloading the 16amp version causing overheating.

Interesting. As I only bought the Rolec from the marina a couple of months ago I shan't be expecting to shell out a second time for a different meter :(
