Hi

I've been looking around at sports Fisher/cruisers around 25 feet. one boat i'm lookig at is the Rodman 810. I've seen them with single diesel, twin 160's and twin 130's. I think i'll go for a twin diesel.

Anyone got any info or feedback on the boat in general. Also interested in performance differences between the twin 130's and twin 160's.

Thanks

have alway's been a fan of Rodman,
but have chosen Karnic 2660, this is the only twin diesel sportfisher with a beam <2.7m and weight < 3ton, (trailable)

engine options were 2 x 110 Mercruiser, 2 x 130 VP, 2 x 160 VP.
as my boat was made on order, I insisted on 2 x D3 190 (the same engine)

I am VERY happy with my choice.

note: 2660 is now out of production, replaced by 2760 is heavier and more beam,

twin diesels is always the way to go
I wonder how few ever look for some US builds like Albemarle or Carolina Classic, which are two very good US sportfish boats and in my opinion a tad above the Euros
I think the Carolina Classic 28 is a bullet proof boat, with a hull design by Lou Codega

Rodman

BY all accounts Rodman make very good boats. Known to be good at Sea and well made and finished. They do have a "sister" company Starfisher (apparantly at Rodman there were two brothers originally and they fell out and one went off and started Starfisher!) Anyway maybe worth having a look at them too. Maybe worth considering Jeanneau Merryfishers and Beneteau's too, though they will all prob be Diesel most have only single screw.

Hey Guys, thanks for al the responses. Feel more confident about Rodman Boats now. Any idea on what sort of max and cruising speeds i should get on an 810 with twin 130's?

Karnic specs 2 x 130hp at max 33kn but she's only 3ton.

as the Rodman is approx 5ton, I gues you would get approx 26kn at the max

the specs on the Rodman side say
max horsepower 2 x 160 max speed 29kn
thats a good reference I believe.
