rocking and slapping

while at the show, you look at the boats,well that is why you go, anyway , I looked, and here are a few things I noticed, the manufactures are now making the boats all a bit different, like they used to be, they seem to go though a all white shinny stage at one point, now as I said its changed.
there are a lot more mid cabin master berths on smaller boats, and bigger sometime even masters in the stern now, rather than always master cabins in the bow, so now the question that the title refers to.

After having a boat with the master cabin up fwd, it's bliss to now have an aft cabin boat, with no slapping, incredibly quiet and having that totally insulated feeling from the outside.......!!!

Aft cabins are unbeatable for sleeping at anchor, I quite miss our T46 for that. Mid beam cabins are not nearly as good as you might think, 'cos although you don't get so much wave slapping noise in the mid cabin, you do have the spray rail of the hull breaking water level at this point along the length of the boat, so as the boat gently rolls the spray rail slaps down against the water, which is actually louder and less regular than the wave noise in the front cabin.

I have avoided the slapping in the past by having the anchor cable secured aft.

I have avoided the slapping in the past by getting the wife to sleep in the fore cabin whilst I sleep in the aft cabin
