Going to Rock for a few days and debating whether to take kids Topper. Is there anywhere to launch and is it suitable for Toppering? Its years since I was there and I seem to remember strong tides and sandbanks.

Thanks

Colin

I learnt to sail there many many many years ago in an 11ft 6ins pram dinghy that my father designed and built in the back garden... I was allowed to sail 1 hours either side of high water unaccompanied (aged 5) and accompanied we sailed three hours either side of high water. The tide stream is strong especially at springs and yes there are rocks but visible. Not been back since it became gentryfied / second home paradise.

Was there a few weeks ago and yes there's a hell of a sandbank! Having said that there's no a very good looking sailing school not far from the RNLI station that should allow you to launch from their pontoon - albeit for a small stipend!

When it's dry, it's really dry though so I'd say (as above) you've only got a few hours either side of HW
