Can anyone tell me when the pier is open from?
Reason i ask is i moored there a few months ago for the dickens festival and it was locked with no way to get from the boat to dry land of the pontoon, the covered part seemed to be open as there were people up there.

Found an old post of mine asking the exact same question!, opening times are sunrise/sunset, but no mention of dates.

We use it regularly and it is exactly as it says - sunset and sunrise (give or take half hour). Very nice helpful man who does the locking/unlocking. If you are there pm he will always walk down to let you know he is locking it for the night, and give you an idea of what time he will unlock am. It also says no overnight mooring allowed, however we have used it overnight for the last 12yrs or so and never been challenged,,,the fishing tripper boats are the only disturbance going out at the crack of dawn!

The other half has just pointed out you didn't ask how to get out of the main gates (which are locked sunset to sunrise), but off the pontoon. As you exit the pontoon onto the gangway up there is a machine which
for a £1 you can buy a token. At the top on the right, about 5 metres back, is a button you push which releases the gates for you to get out. You then use your token to get back in. Worth remembering tho about the main gates shutting.

Thanks for that, when we moored up there a couple of months ago, Lisa said there was no tokens in the machine, hence asking as i assume its seasonal?
She is normally spot on so i never went for a look, we may have a little cruise down there this Sunday for a look see.

No it's not seasonal. Sometimes the machine doesn't have any tokens in it so many moons ago we bought 2, and always keep one on board spare which we replace if we have to use it. Tends to be more winter time when it's not used as frequently and therefore not re-filled as often.

Ahem, keep a paper clip somewhere about your person .This vital bit of gear will enable you to dig out the bits of paper the local little s***s force into the coin hole to prevent use of machine.:)
