Medway Council, does have some folks , including our local MP, who are well aware of the advantages of having a historic river running run through the middle the towns and making some use of it.
After years of decay and neglect, this is slowly being addressed.
The pier just below the RCC club moorings, having been cleared of abandoned boats, has now been repaired and is available for use by boaters.
You need to buy a token from machine on pontoon to regain access to your boat.
This does provide some level of security if leaving a boat unattended.

"Sun Pier" in Chatham town centre is also available.
Ship Pier is closed.
Blue Boar Pier demolished
Strood Pier. Still standing but access ramp vanished elsewhere.Rumours that somebody somewhere is obliged to get it back up and running
