Prom Concert Fireworks Saturday 14th.
Medway Mile Fireworks Friday 20th.

Both have Castle as a backdrop and ideal for boaters to watch.
Note that fireworks are being set off from Rochester Pier, so no mooring there.
Need to anchor or stem tide.

LW 21.18 BST.

Mine was the only boat that took up olgit's suggestion to anchor in the river. Unfortunately we went aground on something hard in the middle of the Medway. It was low water springs.

Hi Tony.
Springs were exceptionly low over weekend.

Anybody unfamiliar with area immediately above Rochester Bridge needs to navigate with great caution under these conditions.Very shallow indeed and the foundations of an earlier bridge just above the present one do not help.
Recall 3 or 4 events very recently where both visitors and very experienced locals have touched bottom.
Member of our local fishing community, returning with charter party, seriously damaged stern gear going under the bridge.

If navigating the Bridge at LWS, DO NOT USE THE CENTRAL ARCH.
Use the Strood Arch and keep to Port under arch if inbound. If you consult your chart it might suggest a swing to port back into centre of river.

The river bed is rocky and hard and any contact with river bed is likely be "interesting" no soft mud to cushion your prop blades or wallet.Really shallow draft boats will not have problem, however if you draw more than 3 feet or so and no keel, take care.

This only applies to arrivals/ depts on really low tides.
Anybody with concerns and panning to arrive on mega low springs post on here or PM me for more info.
