Hi does anyone have any historic photos or recollections of Robins Creek also known as Northfleet Creek from a time when it was fully in use.

I am doing a bit of research and would eventually like to see this creek reopened for use and any pictures or history may help in raising awareness so this important asset isn’t lost forever.

Robins Creek has a lot of history dating right back to the Roman times, the river Fleet was used by the Romans who took their boats up to Ebbsfleet the site of the new International station, more recently from Northfleet the birthplace of cement where exported cement went around the world.

Alas the creek has been blocked off by the EA with their over zealous sea wall and very little photo record is publicly available.

Gravesham in Old Photographs ISBN 0-86299-720-8 has a chapter on Northfleet riverside, most photos are Rosherville and the Cement works, however there are a couple of the waterfront pre - Bowaters and one of the Creek at the bottom of College Road.

HTH

Cheers

Nick
