I am looking to buy a road trailer for a hunter 245 about 2400Kg displacement, and twin keels. SBS do a suitable trailer, are there any other trailer manufacturers out there that build suitable trailers?

Thanks in advance

I have a friend who has just had a very good trailer built for his Sportina 730 lift keel yacht (1750 Kgs). It was about £1000 less than the SBS one. I could find out who the builder was if you want. I think it was somewhwere in Cumbria.

For a twin keeler, a trailer with a separate 4 wheel launching trolley offers the best solution. The one's Hunter boats used to specify were ideal. It allows you to off-load the boat and it's trailer when you get to the storage site and it also makes launching and recovering the yacht from a slipway a doddle since you can just winch up and down the trolley from the channels of the trailer into and out of the water. Saves the wheel bearings and the trailer being regularly picked in sea water too. The trolley just has plain bushes for bearings which only need the occasional smear of grease and can also be removed for storage in a sheltered place.

Thank you all for all your replies,I do not need a launching trolley as the boat is lifted on and off the trailer and it would increase the gross weight of the whole outfit which will be near the limit for trailing as it is.
I have looked the RM trailers website and can get a quote there hopefully if they are still ongoing.
Lakesailor if you could find out the builder of your friends trailer it would be appreciated.

Would be interested to find out what they quote you. I have an RM trailer for a Parker 275 which would probably be about right with a modified cradle. I'm not sure I have any future use for it but a fellow club member doesn't want me to sell it so he can use it for his matching boat!!
I am in Edinburgh. Where are you?

They went into administration end of 2011, but looks like they could be up and running again. Glad to see them back :encouragement:

Yes that what I discovered but I wondered how "up and running" they really are . They were good trailers I believe. I know someone who had one for a Westerly Jouster but that's a wee bit smaller.
