.... not delivering the goods?

I ordered some Chrissie cards and other stuff online a few weeks ago, against my better judgment, and nothing has turned up.

What's more, I cannot get through to anyone to query this - having tried 6 or 7 times. The same recorded message comes up every time. So, tomorrow I'll do the same as I would with any other shop that didn't deliver and wouldn't respond - cancel the order.

And that'll be the first and last time I try to make a purchase from that enterprise.

Bah! Humbug! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Got our cards and paper and things weeks ago, SWMBO wrote the order out some time in the autumn, I usually remember too late, i.e. now. Don't most of these mail order/online shop thingies have small print which says "delivery either tomorrow or in 28 days, unless it's out of stock"?

The forum Stasi are on the ball today. Who says I was being critical of the lifeboatmen? The day I rely on the RNLI shop to save my life ...

I somehow suspect that were he in a life threatening situation and [ QUOTE ]

but I didn't read the post as overtly critical anyway

Let\'s try to guess...

[/ QUOTE ] Let's try to guess what the "other stuff" was! Could it perhaps have included a Fresh Herbs Lap Tray ("TV dining in style. No more spills when you enjoy a TV dinner. The base of this tray moulds to the contours of your lap to hold it steady, so you can concentrate on the film.")?

Or perhaps a Fishermen's Friends CD ("takes the listener back to the days when ordinary men sailed the world")?

Re: Let\'s try to guess...

I ordered a pressie from them a week ago and it arrived this morning. Maybe they have to build your lap tray before sending it out... ?

Still, i'd be annoyed if I couldnt contact them to query the order.

As I type these wurds, there's a 'Thump!' at the door. Guess what?

So, good forumeers - and others - let me wish you all a Merry Christmas

ps My donations to the RNLI go direct.

pps Now to go & listen to 'A wet sheet and a flowing sea' by the Ely Cathedral Choir, to remind me of times off-watch while racing old wooden boats offshore.

I sympathise and agree. I like to support the RNLI through the OnLine shop but it is painfully slow. Last year part of the order was never delivered and I gave up trying to elicit any response to communications.
This year I am still awaiting part of the order to be delivered.
Contrast this with a commercial company, e.g. Maplins, where OnLine orders are delivered the next day and usually f.o.c.

I have to agree with "bilbo" paid 12 months ago and still waiting. Have emailed, written and phoned still waiting. Still pay my yearly fee and will continue to do so for as long as I sail, but will never buy on line from them again.
