I watched a video of an RNLI RIB capsize on launching. Got me thinking… when was the last time an RNLI all weather lifeboat capsized/ was knocked down on active duty? I have seen plenty of footage of simulated capsizes during production to check the self-righting capability but have not heard of any actual events. What kind of AVS do these boats have?

It surprised me to learn that there were non-self-righting all-weather lifeboats in the fleet right up to the 80s, and even into the 90s some were self-righting only by inflating a retro-fitted airbag on top of the cabin. That this was considered acceptable suggests to me that capsize is a pretty rare event.
