It has been mentioned by government ministers for some time now that we should have another bank holiday (we are light on these compared to the rest of the civilised world) but the problem is - what do you recognise it as? No minister has yet come forward with a blinding idea (no surprise there then).
But.....how about the "RNLI Day" - Britain is unique (and so to is the RNLI) in the manner in which it performs professional, selfless rescues at sea and some of which are undertaken in the most appalling conditions with notable risk to the lives of the volunteer crews. Sadly also, notable losses - Penlee has been recently (and appropriately) mentioned by LJS.
So how about it? Any takers?
