Two questions.
1) Had thought of fitting and wiring up a computer cooling fan as an extracter fan in the vent recess in the coachroof just above the hob to draw out steam when the kettle is boiling and frying smells etc, Does the forum think this would work sufficiently?

2) I have just finnished RKJ force of nature, and enjoyed it,
What other books has he written? Did he write an account of his first solo around? if so, what is it called?
Thanks in constipation of your replies, C_W

I put one in to vent the fridge cooling fins, works a treat and draws about half an amp though don't know how it would react to steam, but for a fiver or so its worth a try, you could wire it to a nearby light and put in small micro switch, the fans only need very thin wire. got mine from Maplins

I did that to ventilate a caravan fridge evaporator, and found that you need to be careful in the choice of fan. The one I used first time failed due to the battery voltage rising to about 14 volts when on charge. I put a small resistance in circuit with the replacement, can't tell you how big, as I simply chose one that reduced the fan speed a little. Some of these brushless motor fans seem to need a closely regulated voltage.

G'day,

I suspect a small computer cooling fan will help, however, they may suffer from being out of balance if exposed to grease, also the flow rate is not very high; a purpose built extractor will make more noise but will remove a whole lot more air and probably last a lot longer as well look better.

Thanks Guys, for the advice reg the fan, I will try to get a bigger one than the one I have, as there is plenty of height overhead.
And thanks Mark for the book title, I will post in the wanted forum now to see if I can get a copy.
Cheers, C_W.

Voyage for Madmen was an account of the first Golden Globe which RKJ won... not about him specifically but gives a good insight to all the competitiors including Crowhurst and Moitessier.
I have a copy ... pm me if you want the ISBN number.
