Just read RKJ's latest book "Force of Nature" - good read, fast paced. However, he had lots of probs with his computers and particularly the Maxsea software for routing using the weather GRIB files and boat data. Has anyone used Maxsea and is it worth having?

I used Maxsea a bit in 2003 when sailing across the pond on a friends boat. I thought it was very good but you really need to spend some time getting to know it to get the best from it.

I would consider purchasing it myself if doing more offshore stuff in my boat.

You should direct this query to Bernard Stamm who was obviously using much better equipment and won the Velux by an Ocean mile, or two.
