A minor revision to fix a problem where some icons overlap each other when map at maximum scale (initial map view).
Existing users will see update automatically; new users can download here: http://appstore.com/riverthamesguide

It is still a large download (the inbuilt maps are large but do enable the App to be used without any Internet connection) and remains free.

Feedback and ideas for improvements always welcome here or via the App Help page.

Its not a huge job to convert to Android but there is an issue: I don't have an Android tablet on which to test the converted version (and can't let it go without a thorough testing...).
Hopefully, someone senior from Samsung (or Google or whoever) reads these posts and and will donate a unit in the interests of promoting the alternative platform...

Meanwhile, thanks for the interest.

I could lend you an Asus tablet if that would help?

That's a very kind gesture; I assume you meant on a temporary basis? Problem is that the need for a device is ongoing as each time some changes are made they need to be tested (this is much more frequent than releases in the App Store). I currently test new/updated features on iPads 2, 3 and Air, iPhone 4S and 5, and iPod Touch...
If/when I do an Android version it will be for the larger (7"+) tablet only so one device ought to be sufficient.
If the Android requests keep coming in I might just have to buy one!

It's even easier than that - the underlying code in River Thames Guide is based on HTML/CSS/Javascript so is essentially cross-platform (some of my early iPhone-only apps are available for Android). There are some, relatively minor, differences that need attention and this means a separate code stream just for Android - that is something of a pain as changes/additions now have to be applied to three streams rather than two (the current iPad and iPhone streams are partly separate).

Developing the code is not the issue with producing an Android version of River Thames Guide - it is testing prior to release. There are simulators for both iDevices and Android (and some of my testing is done with the Apple simulators) but they are not perfect and cannot be relied upon for a public release.

Any app must be tested on target devices before release; with Apple I tend to acquire the latest gadget anyway so have the necessary tools - I'm not sure I want to do that for Android.

I am keeping count of the number of Android requests and eventually I guess we will reach the magic 'trigger' number and I will do it anyway...

Would like the conditions to be in geographical order. Great app!:)
Yes, so would I!!
The River Conditions are drawn from the EA site which only provides them in time-issued order. I have suggested to them that it would be more logical and more useful to present them (to third parties) in river order (which they already have for their own use). To date no change made...

The task of writing code to sort them is not impossible but quite time-consuming so not high on my priority list.

Thanks for supporting River Thames Guide.
