Anyone else receiving extra copies of the EA river conditions update emails?

I registered to receive the emails shortly before Easter and since then, it seems that whenever the EA send out an update I receive three copies of it. I've checked the headers and they are all sent to the same address, a second or two apart, so what gives?

Still, at least they are telling me that the river is pretty much back to normal, so maybe time to get out on the boat at last!

Darren.

I am one of the team that updates the river conditions website , i'll mail the site admin tonight and flag this up and ask him to have a look at it .

Are they all exactly the same email ? there definately isn't even just one lock that is different to the previous email you receive ?

Definitely all the same, the last lot had the following message -
"Latest update from the Environment Agency on River conditions for the non-tidal River Thames. Visit: www.visitthames.co.uk/riverconditions for full details on river conditions or to unsubscribe from this service.

GODSTOW LOCK TO OSNEY LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
OSNEY LOCK TO IFFLEY LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
CLIFTON LOCK TO DAY'S LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
DAY'S LOCK TO BENSON LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
BENSON LOCK TO CLEEVE LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
CLEEVE LOCK TO GORING LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
GORING LOCK TO WHITCHURCH LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
WHITCHURCH LOCK TO MAPLEDURHAM LOCK - NO STREAM WARNINGS
TEMPLE LOCK TO MARLOW LOCK - CAUTION STREAM DECREASING

Likely outlook
River flows continue to decrease gradually, Red Warning Boards are no longer being displayed at any sites, however some sites continue to display Yellow Caution Stream Decreasing Boards. The expectation is that flows will continue to decrease over the weekend."

Have checked them side by side on screen and they look identical. The last lot were had the following date stamps:
Sent at Received at (my ISP doesn't do BST!)
Fri, 9 Apr 2010 16:28:54 +0100 Fri, 09 Apr 2010 15:29:00 +0000
Fri, 9 Apr 2010 16:28:54 +0100 Fri, 09 Apr 2010 15:29:01 +0000
Fri, 9 Apr 2010 16:28:55 +0100 Fri, 09 Apr 2010 15:29:02 +0000

So three separate messages, all sent and received within a couple of seconds of each other, which would suggest I'm either on the receipient list multiple times or the server is sending each message multiple times.

Thanks,

Darren.

Darren ,

Can you PM me your email address that you registered with and i'll ask admin to check if there have been multiple signs ups using that address .

Thanks

I've always had a similar problem, getting two emails every time. A while ago I noticed I wasn't getting ANY, so I emailed the EA (rather then re-registering) and now I'm back to getting two again. I specifically asked them not send three, so I'm happy to only get two!

Ok , had a few emails from members who are having the same thing happen ( multiple emails ) , so it might be a more widespread problem.

I'll ask them to look into it.

We're getting there!

Thanks for your help so far on this matter T.L.

Just received the latest river conditions update email and I am now down to receiving two copies instead of three, so either your chat with the guys that do these things helped or one message went missing in the internet.

Any chance we can get it down to just receiving one copy next time please?

I've spoken now to the site admin , and they are now looking at it.

What they have done initially is to manually go through the email list and cancel any duplicate emails . Apparently , it can create multiple accounts quite easily due to a delay in the process starting when you click the 'submit' button when you initially sign up.

People click it and then click it again , thinking that nothing has happened because the response isn't instantaeous.

May be why some of you are down to 2 emails instead of 3 now ?

Anyway , as soon as i know any more i'll let you know.
