Trawler has been laying on her side now for a few days, nearly coverd by the high tide, a very sad loss; yep a hazzard to navigation for sure.

The entrance to the Teign is constantly dredged to retain a channel deep enough for the Ships to be able (with a Pilot) to enter and leave the Harbour / River. Sometimes there is a misshap and a Ship becomes grounded untill the next tide. Would appear that the dredging does not remove the silt / sand from the Sea / River, but uses the current to move it elsewhere in the river / sea.

Perhaps the build up of Sand on the rivers shores indicates where the Sand is going to?

Anyway, a very sad loss to the local fishing fleet, whos operation is currently being disrupted by the construction of the Teignmouth Flood Defences.

Although I believe she's fully insured, it's still very sad to see, given that they had her righted and were pumping out a few days back. The Easterlies of the last week have proved a problem however and she was flooding faster than they could pump out I believe.

We had been following this over on the Mobo forum here:

And current image here: http://cil-www.oce.orst.edu/tinmuth/latest.c4.snap.html

Sadly as mentioned above, most of the equipment will mostly likely be wrecked now, given she's been on her side for a few days. :(

I guess they will be thankful that it didn't end in tragedy - very lucky help was close at hand.

Given the weather I thought this thread might have been about fog on the Teign.

It's OK- I'm leaving....
