Bit bored at work so ended up looking at the River Great Ouse on Google maps. Must confess that even though I used to live in Bedfordshire, I never knew that this was a navigable river for boats that is about 78 miles long. Looking on google maps (satellite view), it looks very narrow with loads of turns.

Has anyone on hear ever cruised it and if so what is it like?

It is a river of many parts:
The Bedford to Earith part is much like the Thames above Oxford but with more centres of population.
Old West River (Earith towards Ely) is very remote and twisty.
The Ely Ouse is wide with lots of interesting diversions off it.
We used to moor at St Ives and now have moved to near Thrapston on the River Nene. All in all The Great Ouse is my second favourite river ................after the River Nene.

@Scholar Gypsy ís the man to really ask and he should have pictures
