River Deben Cannonballs found recently ?

Ahoy there River Deben sailors

Not been on the Deben since my youth, but we used to find Cannonballs in the mud, on the foreshore, fairly large ones, can I ask if anybody knows if they (cannonballs) are still to be found ?

Often wondered if they were used as Ballast or Fired in anger, probably Ballast as was up river ?

Also found Clay Pipes on the Ferry Horse Sand, often complete ones, still have some of them somewhere.

Ah well, those were the days, simple and healthy activities

We used to be on a swing mooring, on the Deben, close to the Ramsholt Arms. We never saw any cannon balls.

I regulary found the Cannonballs up river of Waldringfield, on the North Bank, above the 'Tips', we were very very fortunate to have long holidays at 'Methersgate Quay' in my 'teens', boating, canoeing and sailing the hols away.
