Planning to go there this week - light northerlies & morning/evening tides.

Any tips from those who know it - where's the best place to dry out and what's the bottom like? (I've got Mark Fishwick's book)

Plenty of room to dry out on the sand upstream of the landing quay - bottom is perfect sand and pretty flat. You can stay afloat in the middle of the stream if you want - but then you have to row ashore.

Excellent place to go, but don't tell too many people!

This is where I was on a hazy summer's morning:

Re: Devon ditch crawlers

Would I be able to squeeze into the Erme river with a 2.2m fin keel for a full tidal cycle?

Rising tides so expect strong currents unless waiting for top of tide. Go closer in than you think under the cliff. Watch final approach when you are tempted to relax and moored dinghies can bear down on you broadside on at a startling rate. Make it easy on yourself by departing in the last hour of the flood. Lots of space as mentioned by others on flat, firm sand but best towards right hand side - black hulled 30 footer on permanent mooring can be good point of reference - anchor just upstream. Enjoy - it's a lovely spot.
