I am about to replace at least one of Midnight Drifter's leaky and illogical (illogical because they trap water on the surface of the hatch until you open it..!) Houdini hatches with a Gebo.

Does anyone know how thick the deck on a Rival 32 is in the vicinity of the fore hatch and cabin skylights?

The reason for this somewhat bizarre request is that I am currently in Afghanistan - I am prepping for a refit at the end of this season, and am in no position to measure the deck thickness. The boat is on the Island of Bute, in the Clyde, and I want to try and assemble all the necessary bits in advance (ie, without having to go there, measure the thickness and then leave the Island to buy the fastenings (Thus wasting time and money!).

If anyone's done this to a Rival or similar boat, I'd appreciate any tips - having said that it looks straightforward (unscrew old hatch, drill new holes, bed with Sikaflex, and away you go). Many things which appear simple are not...!

Thanks in anticipation.

Its about 20 mm, probably a bit less on the 32'. The deck is sandwich with a balsa core. This is from a Rival.

Boots and Sarabande -thanks, both! I remember thinking that the deck was a composite of sorts. So 30mm it will be, unless the ROA come up with anything more specific. You've got to love this Forum!
