I am considering keeping my boat afloat this winter,to make up for lost time this summer.I am on a swinging mooring in the Torridge Estuary.
My current insurer wont cover me .
Any ideas or am I flogging a dead horse?

Given the tendency of spate water coming down the T&T rivers in winter, and the number of tree trunks I have seen when that happens, I'd hesitate to keep one afloat there overwinter unless you have a very sheltered mooring.

You could ask your insurance company what is the basis for their risk assessment, given that you see the boat from your office window, have automatic bilge pumps, a phone linked flood sensor, etc.....

Ask a broker, provided you are confident it IS a safe & secure location. Vote with your feet, some insurers just won't do winter sailing - but, if no-one does, they are telling you something about your risk assesment skills!.
