Margaret Weeks has passed away.
Margaret was a true character on the river and a woman no one trifled with. Her boat 'Ivory Gem' was specially built for her by Freemans in 1972 and was displayed at the London Boat Show.
Her first husband Roger Free was a founder member of the Upper Thames Motor yacht Club and was Commodore of the Oxford Ditch from 1974- 1976 and she was Commodore of the Ditch from 1980-1982. Her surviving husband John Weeks was 'Ditch' Commodore in 1996.
My family and I were lucky enough to enjoy her friendship for many years and treasure the memories of the great nights out we have had in her company.
