\"Rio de la Plata\" class
Gentlemen:
Being a keen sailor of classics on the River Plate in Argentina I am searching for information regarding the "Rio de la Plata" class.
The boat is apparently a Scottish design dating from 1905 and brought to the the River Plate from the 1920´s on.
There is a reference to the "Rio de la Plata" whalers in A. Coles "Heavy Weather Sailing" but I cannot confirm it is the same boat.
There are still many of these yachts sailing the River Plate (at least 20) they are extremly seaworthy, tame at the helm, and also quite beautiful.
Originally open decked, gaff rigged, LOA: 7,40mts BEAM: 2,50mts. Draught: 0,95 mts.
If any user has knowledge of these classics I would be truly grateful to hear from them.
Thank you.
Duncan Macnie.
