Hi,
I'm repairing the duck boards from the cabin well. What sort of wood screws should I be using? Am I alright with B and Q stainless steel, or do I need to get higher quality... If so, where's a cheap source!?
Thanks!

If you use stainless steel use 3i6 ( A4) not 304 (A2). ITYWF B&Q's are A2

Brass will de-zincify. Bronze will be suitable but probably expensive

Seascrew, A2A4 and Anglia Stainless are the suppliers which come to mind ..... Anglia also do bronze screws

But none of these are cheap

You could glue it with a polyurethane glue such as Gorilla glue if the joints are a reasonably decent fit

Are your duck boards normally wet? If not just use brass or 304. If damp/ wet then use bronze or 316. They can be changed after a couple of years if you go for the cheaper option of brass or 304 anyway.

I'd never trust B&Q to be anything but plated, or the cheapest possible brass or SS. I've had many an allegedly brass screw from them rust on me.

Toolstation & Screwfix do a range of A2 stuff, which should be fine as long as they aren't permanently wet with sea water.
