Right outboard for my Pandora

I need a new outboard for my Pandora Intl (22 ft). Someone at my club is selling a 9.9HP long shaft Mercury for £475. he bouigt it in 1988 for £800 and a new one costs about £1500. Does this seem about right? I would have the motor checked and serviced of course.

9.9 horsepower will power boat ok,price a little on the high side for private sale,try haggling,or get service/check thrown in.Its a twelve year old unit.Good luck.

As above price seems high but of course depends on condition, service history etc. As he is at your club, suggest you have trial with it on your boat and see how you get on over a weekend. If its a good & reliable he should have no objection.

A 6 hp will have plenty of push for an easily driven hull such as the Pandora.Also it will be much lighter to handle and use less fuel.

Whichever size you go for I wouldnt expect to pay over £300 for a ten year old one .
