From me ...

So to all the Thames posters a huge thanks from me for all your contributions over the years.

It has been a pleasure meeting a number of you and I have no doubt our paths will cross.

I am staying in the industry and almost on the Thames, however most of the boats I shall be "involved" with won't fit under the bridges or in the locks ;)

Cheers and I will answer all outstanding emails.

Richard

I shall still be mooching about the Thames when I can, both physically and popping in here every now and again. Hell I may even visit a boat show or two!

hmm maybe not...I think I have done my fair share of London and Southampton!

Richard, your hard work and patience has never gone unnoticed.

Thanks for everything, it's been a blast :encouragement:

I hope you enjoy yourself, and if you ever come across us, don't hesitate to knock on the boat for a drink or three :p

You're (we're) part of the superstructure on here - so it's sad to see you go of your own volition (other than feet first). IIRC (and that's difficult nowadays), it was posts of some of your antics - scraping the bridge at Cookham that made me realise that there were some intrepid boaters around - so I joined.
Thank you.

There aren't many real boaters left on t'river (I won't give a list), but you're one of them - even if I didn't get a beer out of you....

Firstly sorry for not getting a beer out of me ! If that was at a show you should have asked !!

Yes that was me and Tedd Lock taking a boat far too tall up river. Little did we know we needed just as much water underneath !

Sadly all those boats belong to our folks and it's a sign of the times and perhaps the industry that despite us earning far more than our folks, bringing up kids, paying for nursery and schools and living in London does not give us the spare pennies to indulge in the size of boats we used to play with.

Perhaps that's why we all work in the industry, it's cheaper ! And we get to play with bigger boats ;)

Anyhow thanks for the kind words and if anyone is at the London boat show in the first day the beer will be flowing !

On a different note I shall be fulfilling a dream at some point by taking a narrow boat through the canals and up north someday. There ... I said it !

Cheers

Well keep in tough via PM and have a look over on the CWDF site - there are a lot in interesting folks on there.

Best wishes for the new role and future, Richard. I've enjoyed our occasional beers and think you have done a cracking job with ybw.com
