Rigging workshops

Hi I've put this in the reader to reader section too - sorry for the spamming.

Does anyone know of somewhere that offers rigging workshops/courses in the UK or Europe? I'm thinking of the sort of thing that Brion Toss offers over in the US. Maybe a week or two of hands-on work, focussing on standing rigging and fittings. Preferably working with timber spars and both modern and older techniques and materials.

I'm sure the International Boatbuilding Training College at Oulton Broads offers rigging as part of their syllabus. Don't know if it's offered as a stand alone module. Why not contact Nat Wilson on: ibtc@globalnet.co.uk

I rigged a 27 gaffer from a few photos in Hiscock, using hand splices on wire rope. After a bit of practise I could do 3 eye splices a day! This was in 8mm and 6mm wire rope, 7x19 strand. I had no problems with the galvanised wire (better than stainless, if it goes rusty it warns you it is about to fail; keep it protected with linseed oil). This is simple technology, don't let the "experts" confuse you.
