Rigging toggles - relative merits

Currently thinking about replacing standing rigging. Normally, would just just replace like with like but only the forestay has a toggle at the top. Which has me wondering about the relative merits of bar toggles vs eye jaw toggles vs any others. Is there any reason to prefer one type given that MBL, pin size, etc are similar. Suspect it might not matter but I have only ignorance at the moment.

A toggle is used where articulation is required which is why there is one on the forestay - some have one at the bottom as well. May also be used for stays where the chain plate is not aligned to the angle the of the stay. Best to ask the rigger who makes up your new rigging whether toggles are necessary.
