Hope for some advise about rigging my 'new' dinghy ( a skipper 12)
She has a gunter rig and carries a modest mainsail. She came with a rope bridal which has a double pulley attached, there is a single pulley in the bag. I cant work out how she had been rigged or if there is supposed to be some purchase.
I can imagine a simple system with the sheet fixed at the boom - down to a pulley on the bridle-back up to a pulley on the boom then forward along the boom to a pulley and then back to the helm. There is, however, no fitting for a pulley further along the boom except ( I suppose) it could share the fitting for the kicker.
I notice that the kicker has no purchase, it is just a short line which would seem to go direct to a cleat on the mast.
I have looked at various set ups on line but nothing seems to tie up so once again its over to the panel for some advice!!

The single pulley goes on the boom, the sheet goes from the pulley (or"block") on the horse, around the single on the boom, back through the double on the horse, crosses your tiller arm to your other hand.

I'd suggest a 2:1 sheet if it's at the boom end, 3 or 4 :1 if it's mid boom.
I think it will be boom end on a skipper, so use the top sheave of the fiddle block as a becket, up to boom end block, down to fiddle block on the transom horse, to your hand?
I'd look for a 4:1 purchase for the kicker, or knock up a cascade of 2x2x2 = 8:1 with 3 blocks and lines?
The world is loaded with redundant 3:1 Laser kickers (since we all got complicated systems), that would do if one came your way.

Skippers have useless gooseneck arrangements, where the boom meets the mast, so a single line to a cleat is not unexpected for the kicker. Hopefully you'll get to a point where you enjoy sailing and aspire to something that sails better - don't worry about trying to improve the Skipper, just decide what's next.
