I am thinking of having my standing rigging checked and set-up. I have read some things on the subject but feel having someone look at it may be the way to go. I really need personal recomendation of someone who has done a good job on a similar boat(33 foot Westerly cruising yacht).

allan- you really can do it very well yourself if you take time and follow the selden guide. the only rigger I know of is Andy at cardiff marina who took my mast down last week and he seemed a careful worker. he's on hols at the moment sailing in the med.

have a word with rob freemantle at cardiff marine. he must know what its about cos his boat sails well enough.

or if you're still puzzling when I get back in 3 weeks time, I'll give you a hand to do the job.
 
Rigger also needed in Cardiff!!

I have resurrected this thread as I am trying to get a quote for re-rigging my yacht.

I have given up on Cardiff Marine/Marina (business is obviously good enough for them to be able to ignore my 3 requests, over a 2 month period, for a quote).

So any riggers out there who are willing to do a job in Cardiff [or at least to give me a price for the job] to re-rig my modest 22footer, please get in touch.

Plan B is to do it myself using swageless fittings.

Me too, please. I'd like to have Ishtar checked this autumn - we are clocking up the miles and I have no idea if the rigging has ever been done.

UPDATE:why is it that the sun started shining and a lovely breeze started just as Andy and I were dropping the mast this afternoon! ;-)

(Very impressed with price and Andy's professional and efficient approach BTW.)

Glad my recommendation paid off. Might even help with an extra sharp price for the guardrails we discussed on Saturday, Andy?? ;-)
 
Andy did a great job on standing rigging and I've replaced all the running rigging and blocks etc. Well impressed by the improved handling from having the rig set up professionally: weather helm now a thing of the past!!!! Andy gave some very sound advice about lots of other bits and bobs that have been annoying me for a while. Money well spent and only for literally a few pounds more than it would have cost me to buy the stuff myself.

Now let's get some autumnal and winter sailing in with the confidence of having a sound rig.
