Have to lower mast to get under the bridges to get to sea ....
Plan is to use her on river for this month - June ... then lower mast enough to get under bridges ... move to Yacht Club for July and Regatta ... so some sea stuff ... probably wander round to Tallin etc. then back into river ... for last of season ... then lift out onto bank-side for winter.

Best I've ever seen her! Well done. I will now go and cook then eat my hat!
Just need engine sorted so you can make the channel deep enough!
Did you manage to sort the blue anti-slip paint?

Yep ... found it eventually ......... exactly same stuff literally but sold for different use !! My Latvian Inspector and Yacht Club guys sorted it ... So plan is to do this while engine is sorted .......
And it looks fairly well protected - do you get any fetch coming into your little creek if a gale is blowing in to it?
How far can you travel on your river before you encounter the bridge where you have to lower the mast?
I have pals on the Isle of Wight who keep their boat at the bottom of their garden in Wooton Creek, but they only have access to the berth for an hour or so each side of high water - you are fortunate to not have to worry about tides!
(Same friends used to live up the River Itchen in Southampton, and had a Seadog ketch then - they were accomplished at getting the masts down and up when 'shooting' the bridge (railway I think) each time they went out for a sail).

What an idyllic location to have your boats!

We are a bend of the river ... and I reckon about 70% of the winds do make the canal ... but the banks being high create a lull at waterline.
There's only a very slight rise / fall - can't even call it a tide really .. even in the port it's only 10 - 20cms. My waterlevel is governed more by sun and rain ... as the water run-off inland comes down river.
I have about 30 - 40 kms upstream I can go with the small boat ... with the bigger probably 20kms. Downstream - its about 5 - 6kms , with the electric cable and bridges about 3kms from me. The river being a glacial creation ... has a reasonably U shaped profile - so depth is good right across ... downstream averaging about 10 - 20m, upstream from me 7 - 10m.
The pontoon there at moment is a temp summer affair ... as winter ice breaks up any structure left in like that ... Later we plan a summer house / sauna with timber decking going out into canal from north bank .. boat will sit alongside the decking.
For me it's the culmination of a lifelong dream ........ /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks great Nige, tacking back up the channel must be tricky though.

First thing we have to do is get it deepened to get out !! Boat draft is 1m .... where she is now is about 1.1m ..... where the canal narrows it shelves to about 80cms ... and up to about 60cms halfway along the narrows ... Luckily its powdery sand and soft ... so my 40HP Perkins once its been sorted will be used to scour a channel through !! I can hear the sharp intakles of breath and horror !! that a boat should be used in such way ... but SA has been well known in Solent to create it's own little channels !! She can push through about 20cms of Solent mud with no problem - so this bit will be a "push-over" .... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
The funny thing is though ... I can't get any anchor to hold in there ! Maybe because of the sand ? The small boat usually has a 4 fixed prong grapnel style job and that is ok until the wind pipes up !
Actually tacking in ... normally the wind funnels in .. so you can drop sails and glide in with the smaller boat ...
