Richmond says no to Queen's Jubilee barge Gloriana

I thought it looked right at home where it was before, next to the bridge at Richmond.
Personally, I'd like to see her housed anywhere between Teddington and Hampton Court, where the CCTV cameras set up for security, could also record the passenger vessels plying their trade at twice the speed of everybody else.

Hurrumph....

All a load of irrelevant tish tosh - and anyway, the Turks seem to be better known as breakers these days rather than builders.

Perhaps you could persuade the good Burghers of Chatham to offer Gloriana a home ? She would be a worthy addition to the Historic Dockyard and might provide some slight recompense for your total failure to repel the Dutch in 1667 - although I note that Upnor did offer up some token resistance ! :D:D:D

PS - not such a bad idea, really !

We (Chatham) were offered the last Sunderland ? flying, flying boat when it was owned by RYANAIR ...............(pre Mr Oleary.)
All we had to do was provide a safe berth for her.
Chatham Dockyard would have been ideal, two unused slips with a gentle gradients, sheltered water in all directions and a seaplane landing strip near Long Reach(Its on aviation charts).Loads of vistors every year........
Rubbbing salt into the wound it would have been just round the corner from where they were built.
What do you think happened......Spot on ...No thanks sayeth the council. Not interested.
It ended up in the States, part of Kermit Weeks collection. Grr....
Maybe the Gloriana will end up there like London Bridge.
