I thort they all got confiscated by the Gib rozzers and you could go to their pound and buy a massive one with 2x250 outboards for peanuts. (You cant sail it away I assume else they confiscate it again?!)

Anyway, pleased to hear it features a steering wheel. Do you think they want to charge extra for that?

Dunno much about Northcraft but I reckon that the set up would be worth £10kish in UK. If the engine is a new hitech 2 stroke (Optimax, Ficht, HPDI) or 4 stroke then second hand value might be a bit higher.

Some more info would be helpful i.e. what sort of layout (console/seats)? Electronic kit? Fuel tank size and location?

Probably worth posting the question on the rib.net forum http://www.rib.net but wait a bit as the server is down at the mo. Due up this afternoon apparently.

HTH,
AJ

Yesterday evening we get to sea trial the Rib in question. Myself Phil & Neil plus the owner and his son
get onboard. I notice from stepping on the bow section that the rib is very soft, i.e. not a lot of air

The owner then explains that there is a release valve which works when the rib heats up in the sun
it being blue apparantly makes it subject to this. He says too that they dont have it inflated too hard.
Now I know nothing about ribs and what pressure they should be. perhaps the panel could comment.

The rib is fairly loaded, I worked out the 5 big guys total about 75 stone. Phil is at the helm I'm next to
him on one of those jockey seat things (I now know why they are wise). Neil and the son behind and the
owner is sitting in the bow, and has strangely decided not to wear a life jacket?

We leave the marina to a windless calm sea state, and phil opens it up. Obvoiusly with a view to testing its
potential as we intend to use it for power boat courses, he goes into a 90 degree turn at about 45mph.
Now the boat handles it better than the hapless owner (at first anyway) as I watch his efforts to hold,
an and the expression of fear on his face.

Next we are heading for the wake of a small sports boat, but slow down having noticed the stbd
tail section of the tube (where the cleat is) is flat. We stop and pump up this and the other sections,
but within a couple of minutes at 45mph the speed has sucked the air out of what is clearly
a leak.
We return to the Marina and notice the boat is taking on water at the transom port side. Bilge
pump activated, and Phil inspects the loaction of the leak. The port section of the tube has parted
company with the GRP transom, and further investigation reveals a bodged attempt at repairing
such.
Now we suspect that they may have been towing the doughnut via the cleat on the aft of the
port tube section which it is not designed for.
The owner has now to have the boat lifted and repaired before we look further.
I can now see the point of Phils extreme helming to test the boats capability, it was this
that revealed the problem.

Seems to me this Rib has seen some very hard work - and work it wasn't designed to do. Plus the owners haven't given it some TLC.

Would leave it well alone IMHO. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I'd walk away from this one, unless it's very cheap and can be repaired properly. Get some advice from an inflatble repairer, must be one around you. Those tubes/valves need looking at, the boat should be pretty hard. Some do have high pressure release valves. Bears looking at very carefully, what else has been bodge repaired? Some people think evostick is magic, it aint!
