Some b'stard has stolen our RIB and outboard from Fambridge Yacht Station overnight

Avon 2.1m grey hypalon RIB

Tohatsu 2.5hp 2 stroke outboard

Reported to the police and CHA

We're off to Furrin Parts later today sans outboard (we've got the flubber though)

Really nasty. I'm sorry. It is really annoying. I keep looking at boats going past and wondering if my bunk cushion is on board. Not in the same league of financial loss of course. Was it distinctive in anyway?

Sorry to hear it. A bit late after the event, but one good tip is to paint all or part of the O/B and the seats in the RIB a distinctive colour, like day-glow orange. A thief would not want to knick a painted RIB and/or O/B

I agree, It's a shame to have to deface one's own property, but it would seem to be the best way to prevent opportunistic thievery.

We had a brand new outboard stolen from the RHYC store some years ago. I bought a brand new one and ratted it the same day with a red aerosol. Painted the boats name on the blow up too. Anything to make it harder. What makes it worse is there are swine out there who must be buying stuff in the certain knowledge its nicked

That's terrible news Bru. Hop it is recovered.

About 12 years ago, our tender was stolen from the wall at Rice & Coles. We got it back as soon as we rang the Marine Police - It was bright yellow and had been abandoned after being used for some boat breaking by thieves.
Draw your own conclusions. Our Walker Bay is pretty unique.....

Speaking with Toby, it appears another tender was abandoned at the pontoon. Albeit without an OB. He seemed to think some yoof "borrowed" it from somewhere like Brandy Hole for an bit of adventuring then swapped it for something with an engine to get home.

Likely as not. Question then is whether they abandoned it or whether they had the means to hide it away and move it out of the area to flog it

It'll either turn up or it won't. I'm not going to break my heart over it!!! Sh!t happens

FYI - in the last couple of weeks a number of boats at Brandy Hole were broken into and items stolen. The thieves were actually caught complete with an amount of stolen gear. Might be worth a follow up to see if your bits were amongst the stuff recovered...

Thanks for the heads up Goliath, the local PCSO is on the case and I'll see what's what when we make it back from Belgium (if we ever do but that's another story!)
