managed to get a mooring on fawley meadow at the weekend, and then picked up a couple of tickets for the festival on the saturday.
Was a good day / evening and would think about getting a weekend ticket next year. Would be interested to hear from anyone who had an official mooring next to the venue and whether it was worth the money. I guess those that did, saved a fortune on drink as they could pop back to there boats for drinks as opposed to buying them at £4 a drink in the venue (you are not allowed to take your own in, and they do search you).
Was chatting to another boat owner on sunday at marlow lock and they said they were one of 4 boats that were cast adrift at 3am by some drunks from the campsite!

Your being Serious aren't you

Oh man what a money spinner that must have been. Glamping for the yuppies lol.

@Bumperdump - great pics and thanks for the picture of my boat :)

@InlandNewbie

We did pass you on Saturday on the way up to Henley for more supplies and I did wave. You asked about the official mooring we had an official mooring which cost £120 for the weekend however it allowed us to BBQ before going into the festival for the Friday night party which saved us money. We had a large cooler on board and for six of us we did not buy a drink for the entire weekend :eek: The choice was quite small plus at £4 per drink expensive. Yes they do search you but there are many ways around it so the £120 mooring fee was well worth it. I won't post details how to do it here but PM me if you want to know. We had beer, cider, red wine, gin and tonic including ice and lime :D It also allowed us to go in for a few hours earlier, pop back to the boat to have some snacks and more drinks and then back in for the evening.

I can't believe some boats were set loose, that is always a concern for me. I always drop the anchor just in case someone thinks it's funny to untie us.

If anyone thinks the mooring is expensive try the glamping, I think a 6 man tent is approx £500 for the weekend and you don't even get to keep the tent!

We had a great if very drunk weekend and would recomend it, apart from some rain Saturday lunchtime when we stayed on board until it went the weather was excellent. My highlights were Holly Johnson, Billy Ocean and Banarama.

Hope this helps.......

Will probably give the official moorings a try next year. I noticed that a lot of the food / shop stalls backed onto the riverside moorings - alot of these seemed to have their own generators, and I just wondered if you could actually hear any of them and if they went on late in the night.

We were at the tail end of the moorings, the moorings are all numbered and named, we had peace and quiet. I would say you definitely don't want moorings 1-10 after that it would be ok, Mooring 20 onwards would be my choice in total there were 36 moorings.

We were at Fawley Meadows for the weekend, arrived Friday and left Monday. Cheaper and quieter than the moorings right outside the site, but the river taxis were all charging £5 per person each way so with five of us that started to make the on site moorings look like good value. I think you have to be pretty quick to get one though.

Great festival, Billy Ocean and ABC were my favourites and I was surpirsed at how good Kim Wilde was. We met some friends in the car park for a picnic both days and got through a few bottles of Champagne before entering the site. Got very wet on Saturday, but Sunday was great after an early rain shower.

Certainly some of the on site food and drink was pricey, although I didn't think £4 a drink was too bad really. This included pints of Brakspears or Hobgoblin from the Wychwood Brewery tent. My wife bought a couple of burgers and chips on Sunday evening and paid £17 which I thought was really over the top, especially as they were not great burgers. All the stands had constant queues though so I suppose it is supply and demand.

Ignoring the hit to my wallet we all had a great weekend and hope to go back next year
