It would seem to be my fault (despite the fact that we were both in) that we missed this programme and somebody is not happy. A reward is therefore offered for the borrow of a tape/CD of the History of Modern Britain.

Mayday!

I recorded it on DVD [at least, I think I did!]. If you don't mind waiting a couple of days until "her indoors" has watched it I'll gladly post it to you. No reward is necessary!

I would like to point out that it was a truly excellent program.. Curiously enough I dont remember the times as being as dramatic as portrayed but it was quite fascinating...

No, I didn't remember such dramatic and violent demonstrations either, but I suppose it just shows how much you forget as the years go by.

I bet for those directly involved - the miners for example - it seems like yesterday.

Fantastic series though and Andrew Marr is a brilliant political commentator and narrator. I hope the series comes out on a DVD later.

[/ QUOTE ] IIRC, most of the dramatic riots were in the big cities and, if you didn't live in one of them, and just saw it on the news, it didn't impinge so much. I remember being in Central London on the evening of a big Miner's Demo in Trafalgar Square, and it was, um, interesting.

Excellent series, though I had to watch this episode with gritted teeth. Thatcher wasn't (and isn't) my favourite politician and it reminded me why.

PM sent.

I've asked Moodysailor to either copy my DVD or pass it on to you and Parglena. I only have a single drive so I can't copy it for you.
