Revs up to stop? Beta question?

When I stop my three cylinder Beta it revs very highly for a second or so before it cuts.

Is this to be expected or is this something unusual? And if unusual what may be causing this and what might the solution be?

Maybe the fuel cut off is not operating cleanly and at first partially starves the engine of fuel.This would make it rev up.

Not with a diesel, it won't.

A diesel engine will rev up if starved of fuel.It's happened to me and it'a widely known fact.

In fact a symptom of fuel running out is the engine revs going up and down for while until it stops.

That is not the same as saying that if you starve the engine of fuel, it will rev up. Obviously, in the real world, if you cut down, or cut off the available fuel, an engine will slow down or stop. If an engine gets an intermittent supply, the revs will fluctuate, but to say that "a diesel engine will rev up if starved of fuel" is simply not true.
