Rev counter issue (x2) same side - VP122d

I’ve got two rev counters - both starboard side - that don’t read. Healthy charge coming from the alternator (about 29v). I don’t believe that they are both faulty but is there something I can do to check before changing the alternator?

My rev counter stopped . The spade terminal at the alternator had broken.
Instead of the spade I fitted a ring terminal on the cable.
