Reuse swaged fuel hose fittings?

or what is currently on my fuel and gas lines that need a specialist tool to crimp then (and in my opinion should never been invented).

Asking for me who is about to do some major surgery on his fuel system.

I don't any that need special tools, no need for them in my opinion.
 
The straight fittings does not look good as there are no sealing barbs when the pipe goes in and could be the cause of the leak

It also has a line running straight through the male end, with a nick at the very end which almost lines up. Would that line be normal?

Yes that looks like a damaged olive.

It's just a reflection, the olive is fine and free of scratches. That said, I think I will replace that fitting anyway, because it would be much neater with a 90° bend. The other fitting is very nice, good quality stainless. Yes, it would "only cost pennies", but probably in excess of a thousand of them.
 
After much searching I have only been able to find two sources for a 90° hose tail to 1/2" UNF; RD Diesels, who are currently closed for holidays, and injectionpumps.co.uk who want almost £11 (including postage) for a part which costs €2.45 inc. VAT from the manufacturer (who unfortunately it is no longer possible to buy from because of you-know-what). This is neither cheap nor easy. Fortunately the old fitting is still serviceable, I'll just have to live with the supply hose sticking straight out from the lift-pump.
 
Have you looked for a adapter that can get from either metric or BSP to 1/2”UNF , then the fitting would easy and also not so rare

I've ordered a 90° 1/2" UNF to 8mm barb fitting from RD Diesels instead - £5.99 delivered, so no big deal. Until it arrives I'll use the old straight fitting which works ok.
