Reusable Filter ?

New boat and doing fuel filter change on a Jeanneau but haven’t experienced this kind of filter, looking at the illustration on the side it appears that you can wash the filter out, presumably with petrol, is this the case.
 
That's the one. A new one is around £25 so use a cup full of unleaded and all is well. Also be carefully with the drain plus on the bottom of the filter. It is only plastic and easily damaged.
 
My filter, like that one, 1999 vintage, proved to have a disintegrated element this year. New element would have been staggeringly expensive (approx £40 IIRC) even from a motor factor. Replaced it with a Delphi type which seems better designed.
