Its really very unlikely that you'll find anyone going North that time of year, if you do its very likely it wont be very nice!
Why not join a boat going to the Canaries, and fly back with one of the cheap airlines, it'll be a much more worthwhile trip as a beginer.
Good luck with finding something...

There are lots of boats heading down to the canaries to cross the atlantic, with or without the ARC. Skippers have to fight off would-be crew for the ARC itself but often have difficulty recruiting crew for the passage from portugal to the canaries. have a look at the crew forum on www.worldcruising.com.

should be only 5-6 day maximum from Lisbon.
Cascais new marina is a good heading off spot for most people, as it is an easy entry with a fuel dock, and easy to provision from local supermarkets. Cheap tains from Lisbon.
So that might be the place to aim for. Its likely if you did get a trip going north that time of year it could take 5 days, and you may end up getting storm bound on the North Spanish coast, waiting for a window to cross biscay.
good luck. Madeira/Porto santo may be a boats first stop after a three day sail from Lisbon.
