Me and her indoors just returned from a very nice weeks holiday staying in Can Pic a fort Mallorca. We looked around several marinas and were amazed at now many there are an indeed how many boats are on the Island. We were going to hire a small boat but felt for 2 the price of 300 Euro was too high for just a day.

So this got me thinking perhaps next year we will trailer our 17 foot bow rider to Mallorca for 10 days, launch her on a slipway and leave her on a pontoon for a week.

Given that this is only a 17 footer with Merc 115 where would those that know Mallorca suggest is the best side with the best areas to explore where we might be able to do this.

I have my ICC and VHF licence etc

Regards

Dennis

Just down the road from can pic is a very nice place called colonia sant Pierre. Lovely marina and club and also slipway... may be worth an enquiry.

Somewhere on the south West corner from Andratx to Puerto portals is possibly your best bet for a boat that size, it has many small bays all not too far from each other, but more importantly has lots of coast line facing lots of different directions, so it's nearly always possible to find flat water regardless of which way the wind is blowing,so is ideal for day boating.

The downside is that it's a popular area so costs are higher than other areas.

Lots of choice but think I'd book a small mooring in Cala D'Or. Plenty of sheltered bays nearby, including cala Gran just around the corner which as works if the sea is rough (because you get to it without actually going out to sea proper), the beautiful cala mitjana that works well for a small boat, possibility to do a day in Cabrera, Mondrago, and loads of other little coves in the santanyi "strip". There's a nice "summer holiday " feel to the town with good quayside bars and restaurants that make for nice evenings out.
