Has anybody added a secondary control position on outside deck of a motor boat? A lot of Nordic builds have them fitted and they are really useful for berthing and fishing/trolling. Any experience to share? I run a Volvo 200 hp TAMD 31 on Merry fisher 805.

Yes, I have fitted secondary controls to a few boats
They are handy
The Merry Fisher you own with the TAMD31 will be an ''Early One'
Nowt wrong with that!
To fix up an 'outside' steering position though, can be done but not really worth the effort or expence
Single shaft drive vessels are tickey to berth and manouver until you get used to them
Once mastered they are ok
Because they are predictable
I stood on the 'Merry Fisher' Stand at the introduction of the 'Merry Fisher' at the late lamented 'Earls Court' Boat Show, the Year your boat was announced to the boaty Public,as a favour to the Local Benny/ jauneau dealer friend of mine
Back then it was quite an innovative Concept!
The genre is and has stood the Time
I digress however
For 'parking' and manouvering in tight spots and marinas etc
A bow thruster would help
That might be an expensive way to go though as a 'Retro Fit'
To fit the secondary control position you have enquired about on your 805 I think would be too much trouble and cost
I will add one comment

Thanks guys. I have had a bow thruster retrofitted and really happy with manoeuvring the boat. I was really just indulging myself as I'm on holiday and just been trolling for salmon on a charter boat with a kicker motor and external controls. It seemed like a great idea and wondered if anyone had done it.
Thanks Kawasaki for the heads up on MF 805 searches.
