Do yourself a favour. Buy a decent boat which is comfortable and roomy enough to spend a long time on it. Then turn your back on the pretty but manicured Thames and bring the boat to Ireland and enjoy beautiful interconnected rivers and massive lakes all at a fraction of the costs associated with the Thames. We came here four years ago and the country, the people and the boating are amazing. We would give up give up boating rather than return to the Thames, a river which we boated on for in excess of thirty years but sadly has now gone to worms.
