Thanks again to those who commented on the mobile version of the website I put up for http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/
In response to your comments I have removed the auto redirection to the mobile site for small screens, leaving just a link to the mobile site at the top left of the index page. For now I am leaving the mobile site as an ultra-stripped down version, for anyone with a phone as primitive as my own, and as poor a signal as we get in many places in Cornwall.
Our website is delivering about 90-100 Gb per month, as the individual boat pages have mostly about 25 medium resolution (mostly 725 pixel width) photos, and about ten higher resolution 1200 width photos.
Looking at the browser statistics for September this year almost 3.5% of users are on Iphones, 3% on Ipads, and 2% on Android. Blackberry and Windows phones add another 1%. So about 10% of our users are not viewing on PCs. This is a very substantial increase since I last looked at our log files in detail about a year ago.
To my surprise there are also a few people viewing the site on Playstations and Wiis, plus last month two people were still running Windows 3.x and someone else seems to have connected via an Ipod (I didn't realise until now that this was possible).
