Tried to get the canopy down on Saturday to send in. No go the wind was too fierce. Spent the morning with the sail maker instead doing measurements on the boat for a custom canvas canopy. Got on well with the fella and short story is a replacement canopy to my design, replacement tonneau and cockpit seat covers x 8 (custom fitting covers as opposed to new vinyl which will do until the kids get past the destroy everything on sight stage) all for £1900. His work is excellent, I had a look at a few others he had just completed in the yard, and word of mouth recommendations, so confident he will bring the same to mine, and the price includes refitting / alterations as neccessary for a year after delivery. Considering the local go to company here wanted 4 months advance booking and deposit with quote for 2.5k just for a canopy and insisted the boat is in the marina during all measurements and fitting at their discretion I think I landed a rather good deal.
He had some rather unusual colour schemes that took me a while to get my head around until the swatches were shown but I think it will work well. A dark grey canopy with the seat covers being a light tweed grey. More traditional contemporary colours just didn't gel with the rather dated colour scheme of the boat which is a godawful teal and grey on white gelcoat. That will have to be the next project to rectify and the teal interior carpets which I want to replace that with synthetic teak.

Works entirely from word of mouth and v busy as is. Which is as good a recommendation I imagine as any. I will put up pics once he's done. His contact details can be googled though if you are interested.

That's not a bad price at all considering it's not a small canopy.

Mine was a little more expensive (after negotiation) but it's a little big larger than yours. It's all relative! I'm happy with my new canopy, transforms the boat. It's still leaking a bit but I was told it will leak for a while... although by next week i'd hope it'll be all sealed up!

If mine turns out as nice as yours (I swiped some of your ideas :p ) I'll be pleased. As for size, the photo doesn't really do the canopy size justice, I doubt there is much in it vs your Cranchi with both boats having the same dimensions (I'm presuming yours is the Cranchi Zaffiro 34)

Smeraldo 37. Looks like I have a little more canvas but who knows. Does your radar arch support the canopy at all? Looks like it goes under it?

Yes you would then. I looked at splitting the covers either side of the radar arch but as my cockpit is a split level deck, running the stern side canvas through rails on the rear of the arch would be more than a stretch. Tip-toe and fingertips, so the sail maker will fit a boot to the underside of the arch facilitating swinging the canopy from either end (helm and stern) to tuck in neatly under the arch if that makes sense? As my light fittings are in the underside of the arch he will sew in a velcroed wiring pouch up one side with a transparent pockets for LED lighting on the underside of the canvas. As it is a PITA to remove the canopy for a bimini (for the once in a season the sun actually shines) the whole canopy will be built from a bimini top as base with the sides rolling up to fit into pockets and strapped. This will allow for more canopy windows to either beam giving me more visibility to the sides when docking etc. He will also do a double zip just under the radar arch so the rear cockpit canopy can be completely removed if so desired. As one of the boons for me with this particular boat is all aft cockpit seating folds back into the hull side cavities leaving a large area free, such a double zipped feature would allow recreational fishing without worrying about rods getting caught in the canopy, or simply creating a convertabile shelter effect at the helm while the rear cockpit is open and out of the wind while underway.
