Restoring my old wood sailboat.... am I on the slippery slope to darkness?

We are moving from a modern house to a steading in a rural setting and have brought my old sailboat down from the loft for restoration and display....

Basically she was hollowed out and shaped from one single piece of wood by my grandfather who made it for my dad when he was a young teenager.... I used to sail her and following her in the dinghy when I was young( ... er), so there is some history here...

She is about 30" LOA, needs new rigging & pulleys cleaned, new hatch to protect the furniture down below,one window has fallen out and somehow I need to release the starboard anchor which does not deploy... then there is the painting etc. to be done...

Now the question is;

As she is not a MOBO and I still want to do this, is there something wrong with me ??

When such a vessel has the provenance you describe, I think you are duty bound to refit and recommission her to the best of your skills (albeit mainly DD skills it would appear) if not for you, perhaps for your children, if not for them, then for us, so we can see you sail her again on youtube maybe

something wrong? no, the problem is every man never really gets beyond the age of 12 it's OK to play boats

What a great family treasure Alf, I'm sure you will restore the little boat nicely.

I do think though that it needs a little bit of yourself in it to pass on to future generations.....a couple of scaled down 6/71's
