hi all, i am the owner of a morecambe bay prawner which is in need of a compleat rebuild including increasing the depth of the keel by 6 inches with greenheart to increase windward performance. also i have to replace the stem and stern post, deadwood, most ribs, the counter and quite a few planks. she is a buitifull boat built in 1912 by crossfields of arnside and fished out of the river dee in the north west. my question is where can i get the things i need eg nails, wood, caulking ect.

hi, don't really know if this post is any use to you but i have just finished reading a book by jonathan watson (1986) entitled 'janet: the restoration of a victorian yacht. published by david & charles, newton abbott, london ISBN 0-7153-8888-6
this was a really interesting read, about all aspects of the complete rebuild of a morecambe bay prawner. might be useful to you to get hold of a copy for your rebuild.

Kestrel's keel was 25' of 6" by7" Opepe, which I got from Barchards of Hull. I bought it fairly green which made working it much, much easier. It dried out perfectly, without any noticeable movement.
Fastenings all came from Anglia Stainless who do copper and bronze in a very large range.
Both companies recommended
